  REVIEW:

The Reaping, actually a horror flick that stars 2 Oscar winners, both of whom are Hilary Swank.

The Reaping stars Hillary Swank who plays an ex-ordained minister turned scholar. Her mission is life is to use science to disprove any biblical connection to mysterious events. She’s been very successful until one day when she’s approached by a man who pleads with her to come to his small town in Louisiana and help figure out why their river has turned to blood. When she arrives, she discovers the town’s people believe they are being cursed by 10 horrible plagues. And one young girl, played by AnnaSophia Robb, has started the whole thing. They think she killed her brother and then turned the river to blood. With each new plague, Hillary begins to doubt more and more that there is a rational scientific explanation. Hillary has to figure out a way to stop the evil that is happening even if it means having to stop the young girl. To find the answers, Hillary is forced to face her horrible past and find a way to the truth.

This one is definitely scary, but it's more a suspense thriller with good vs. evil than it is a horror flick. The beginning was a little rough...apparently they didn't think the audience would catch on unless they force fed us information for the first 20 minutes. But after that, it really took off. The story made sense even with lots of detail and a bit of a complicated plot...they had to cover 10 plagues after all. There’s all sorts of drama, moral dilemmas and twists to keep you thinking. In fact, you'll be trying to figure out all along what's really going on. Just don't be too sure you have.
